Commerce annual dinner July 26 at
the Lewis County Extension Service
office.

Best of the Best for 2007
Monday, July 30 2007: The Lewis County area thrives on great
people and great business! That is why the Lewis County
Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the third annual "Best of
the Best" awards for 2007.
This program recognizes those individuals and businesses
which have helped make Lewis County a wonderful place to
live. The Chamber presented these awards at the Chamber's
annual dinner meeting on Thursday, July 26.
Award winners for 2007 are as follows:
The "Spirit Award for Business Beautification", presented to
the business that has made the best effort to upgrade and
beautify its store front/office property, went to The City of
Vanceburg for the restoration work on the George Morgan
Thomas Home/Vanceburg Visitors Center.
"Manufacturer/Industry of the Year", presented to a
manufacturer/industry that has shown commitment to the
county by involvement in the creation of jobs, capital
investments and/or endowments, went to Coroplast at Black
Oak Industrial Park
"New Business of the Year", presented to a new business
that opened its doors between January 2006 and the present.
The new business needs to have shown commitment to the
county by involvement in the creation of jobs and capital
investments, went to Corner Cupboard Flowers and Gifts in
Vanceburg, owned and oeprated by Beverly Moore.
"Educator of the Year", presented to an individual employed
by the Lewis County School System or who lives in Lewis
County and is employed in an educational capacity at a
college/university who supports and encourages advances in
education of Lewis Countians, went to Jerry Bloomfield,
principal at Laurel Elementary School.
"Agribusiness of the Year", presented to the enterprise that
represents outstanding knowledge and understanding of
agriculture and its impact on Lewis County, went to Dee's
Greenhouse in Garrison, owned and operated by Dee Potter.
"Community Organization of the Year", presented to the
Lewis County organization that displays outstanding
community support for programs that benefit the citizens of
Lewis County, went to Lending a Helping Hand Food Pantry in
Tollesboro, coordinated by Sue and George Calvert.
"Lewis County Business of the Year", presented to a locally
owned business that has shown support and persistence in
working toward improving the quality of life in Lewis County,
went to Custom Impact Graphics/The Sign Shop at Charters,
owned and operated by Jamie Christy.
The "Meriwether Lewis Award", presented to an individual in
recognition of outstanding contributions enhancing the quality
of life in Lewis County, went to Dr. William M. Talley
recognizing his long-time support of Lewis County history and
genealogy.
